COLUMBIA, Tenn.—Two new members have been named to the Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) Advisory Board. Dawn Moore and Dr. Bill Sutter were each appointed to three-year terms by the MRMC Board of Trustees on March 27. 

Moore is the program director for the President’s Leadership Society at Columbia State Community College

(CSCC) and also serves as the student government advisor. Prior to joining CSCC, she was an attorney at a Columbia law firm. She has been an active member of the community, serving as chair of the local March of Dimes Board and the Columbia Main Street Board. She has also served on boards of the James K. Polk home and local chapter of the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University and a doctorate of jurisprudence from the University of Mississippi School of Law. 

Dr. Sutter has been a member of the medical staff since 1995 and is associated with Southern Radiology Associates (SRA). In addition to serving as president of SRA from 1999-2006, he held the position of MRMC chief of staff in 2010 and served on the Medical Staff Executive Committee, Credentialing Committee, Professional Review Committee and Recruitment Committee. 

He received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He completed his residency and fellowship in interventional radiology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He is board certified in diagnostic radiology.

Meiwa Industry North America celebrated the grand opening of its first U.S. plant in Lewisburg on Thursday. In June 2013, the company announced it would invest $6.1 million and create 98 new jobs in Marshall County. The company currently supplies products to Japanese car manufacturers, including Nissan, Toyota and Honda.

The celebration included remarks from company, state and local officials, a performance by the Marshall County High School Band and cheerleaders, as well as a traditional Sake Barrel Ceremony and painting the eyes of a Daruma doll, which symbolizes accomplishment and looking to the future. Meiwa Industry North America also donated $10,000 to Marshall County High School.

Within the last five months, agents of the 17^th Judicial Drug Task Force, which is based in Shelbyville, have been extremely active in the court system and on the streets combating the flow of illegal drugs into our district’s communities, according to Director Timothy R. Lane. 

Agents of the task force are serious about protecting our communities against illegal drug activity including: the production and distribution of meth; pharmaceutical diversion, which includes the illegal selling of different types of prescribed medication to persons that are not authorized to be in possession of or use that medication; the sell and distribution of crack cocaine, meth, marijuana, ecstasy; and other illegal drugs. The Drug Task Force is comprised of deputies and officers assigned by the Bedford and Marshall County Sheriff’s Departments and the Shelbyville and Lewisburg Police Departments. The Director has praised the heads of these law enforcement agencies in both Bedford and Marshall Counties for their unwavering support to the efforts of the drug task force. He also praised District Attorney General Robert Carter for his office’s support as to the prosecution of these defendants brought to court. 

During the first quarter of 2014, the 17^th Judicial District Drug Task Force seized 257 grams of cocaine, 1,825 grams of marijuana, 117 grams of meth, 911 prescription pills, four pounds of counterfeit pot, and other controlled substances that were intended for illegal drug use. In addition to the drugs, seven weapons, and funds and property totaling over $44,000.00 were seized. These funds and property items were seized and forfeiture actions have been initiated against the property by the task force and the DA’s office. 

The drug market is constantly changing and recently this district encountered an influx of the crystallized form of meth, which is known as Ice. Meth is also produced through a “shake and bake” method, which has been a common method of manufacturing in the 17^th District; however, ice is manufactured in Mexico and is the purest form of meth on the illegal market. This drug is extremely addictive just like crack cocaine and heroin. 

Twenty-two defendants in Bedford County and eleven defendants in Marshall County have either pleaded guilty or were found guilty at trial by jury of felony drug charges or other felony offenses that were investigated by the 17^th Judicial District Drug Task Force in Bedford and Marshall Counties.

 MEMPHIS–The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has charged Zachary Rye Adams with an additional criminal count in its ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Holly Bobo.

Through the course of this investigation in recent weeks, additional information was developed that led special agents to secure an arrest warrant today, charging Adams with a single count of Coercion of Witness. Previously, on March 5th, a special Decatur County Grand Jury returned indictments on the 29-year-old, charging him with Felony First Degree Murder and Especially Aggravated Kidnapping in connection to the disappearance and murder of Holly Bobo.

“We will not tolerate any kind of coercion in criminal cases,” said TBI Director Mark Gywn. “But in a case like this, which has attracted so much interest and required so many resources, rest assured we will fight hard to protect the integrity of our work, as we seek justice for the family and friends of Holly Bobo.”

On the morning of April 13, 2011, Bobo disappeared from her home on Swan Johnson Road in Decatur County. TBI, along with local and federal authorities, have spent several hundreds of manpower hours on this investigation, which remains active and ongoing. The TBI urges anyone with information about the Bobo case to call 1-800-TBI-FIND.

Adams was served with the warrant today and is still being held in the Chester County Jail without bond.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – (Story taken from WCYB.COM-Johnson City)

Johnson City Police said they arrested Jamarcus Jackson in connection with the shooting death of DeShaun Greer and attempted killing of Jamison Lewis.

Early Sunday morning, officers were called to a parking lot on Cherry Street in the downtown Johnson City area.

After arriving, police say there was a large group of people involved in a disturbance.

Authorities were able to restore the peace, but the shootout left Greer dead and Lewis wounded.

Officers charged Jackson with Second Degree Murder in Greer’s death. 

Jackson is also charged with attempted second degree murder on accusations of shooting Lewis. 

In addition, police said Jackson is charged with Aggravated Assault for shooting Zachary Breedlove and Reckless Endangerment in connection with the shooting of Jonathan McInturff.

Jackson has previous felony convictions in Tennessee, so he will also face a charge of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon and possession of marijuana.

His arraignment is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday in Washington County, Tennessee General Sessions Court.   A judge set his bond at $200,000.
