Annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

Marshall County Solid Waste has set Saturday, September 14th for the Annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event. From 8 am until noon you can bring any corrosive, flammable, toxic, or reactive materials used in your home, car or truck, or garden and lawn that is unwanted or unused to be disposed of. This is for homeowners, not commercial businesses. The location for the drop off is 611 Hawkins Drive, Lewisburg. This is a free event for all households. If you have questions about what can be dropped off call 931-359-0547. Batteries, oil, paint, antifreeze, and electronics are accepted daily at Marshall County Solid Waste on Hawkins Drive. This event is sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.

"In 2013, the Lewisburg Animal Shelter Volunteers began a twice-weekly program on WJJM called “Marshall County Pet Patrol”. The purpose was two-fold, first to talk about new intakes with the hope of finding their rightful owners and second, to help find adopters by describing all of our current residents in detail. The results have far exceeded our expectations, and thanks in a big way to our radio exposure our adoption rates have increased significantly. Thank you to the entire staff at WJJM, and our sponsor, Veterinary Services of Chapel Hill…together we are saving the lives of precious fur babies."
